Grades and Dignities
The national orders of the Republic of the Congo are organized according to a precise hierarchy of grades and dignities, designed to reflect the nature, importance and duration of services rendered to the Nation.
Each national order includes grades allowing honorific progression, as well as, for certain orders, dignities conferring a particular rank within the order. This hierarchy guarantees the coherence of the honorific system and respect for the principles of equity and merit.
The attribution of grades and dignities is carried out in accordance with the regulatory texts in force. It takes place after examination of files by the Grande Chancellerie des Ordres Nationaux and decision by the President of the Republic, Grand Master of the National Orders.
The management of grades and dignities falls under the competence of the Grande Chancellerie, which ensures the regularity of appointments, the keeping of registers and the conservation of corresponding insignia.
